Richard Simmons

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in May of 1982 from, then, Utica College. As a Social Work Major, I attended school full time, and worked simultaneously as a child Care Worker at The House of Good Shepard, also full time.

In 2003 I began working for Matsushita, known to most as Panasonic NA, as a Target Market Specialist. Over the succeeding 10 years I’d held Senior Leadership roles with Brother INT’L and Ricoh USA. Assuming national roles within each, including P&L responsibility and coast to coast domestic travel in support of their dealer, retail, and wholesale sales channels.
Retiring briefly, I’m currently a full time real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in NJ.

About

The first 3 years after graduating, I worked in the human services industry. First as a single live in Group Home Parent in Peekskill, NY, and subsequent to that, worked with a number of different populations (mentally impaired, developmentally disabled etc.) Though this work was emotionally rewarding, the pay wasn’t so great. With my long term future in mind, I eventually decided to change careers, applying my interpersonal communication, and people skills to a career in sales and marketing. After 18 months, and many, many, many interviews at Xerox Corp. in both Tarrytown, NY and Midtown Manhattan offices, I began my career in sales working for Xerox Corp. in NYC, as a Sales Rep., and later, Account Rep. Over a 20 year span I enjoyed success selling for companies such as Kodak, Minolta, and Toshiba in a number of sales management, roles in the NY/NJ metro area. After becoming financially independent, and acting on a growing desire to broaden my knowledge and skill set, I migrated from sales into marketing.
When I’m not working I enjoy reading (non-fiction), golf, stamp collecting, traveling, yard work/gardening, and Jazz music/festivals, and spending time with family.
